Key Responsibilities
As a Product Control Intern, you’ll be entrusted with critical tasks that drive the bank’s operational efficiency. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the accurate and timely production of daily T+1 P&L reports, alongside attribution and analysis.
- Providing detailed commentary and investigating variances for Front Office traders and senior Finance managers.
- Resolving breaks such as discrepancies in Model vs. Actual (Ledger) Cash, FO/MO systems, and trade documentation.
- Addressing and resolving model risk control exceptions.
- Ensuring strict compliance with risk and control guidelines.
- Managing stakeholder expectations by promptly addressing queries and issues from various teams, including Finance directors, Front Office traders, Risk management, and others.
- Understanding trade flows and booking structures to ensure precise trade capture and funding cost allocation through Funds Transfer Pricing.
Essential Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Preferably an MBA/Chartered Accountant/CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CFA.
- Relevant experience in financial control or product control within investment banking is a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial market products, including Loans, Bonds, Credit, Derivatives, Cash Equity, Swaps, Options, and Futures.
- Solid knowledge of Fixed Income products such as Bonds, CDS, TRS, IRS, and Loans.
- Familiarity with IFRS/GAAP is preferred.
- Strong grasp of the investment banking environment, from trade capture to balance sheet management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with Front Office systems is advantageous.
- Effective time management, prioritization, and issue escalation skills.
