The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India, offers an exceptional Internship Programme that provides Indian students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fields of public policy and governance. The program, which spans from a minimum of 8 weeks to a maximum of 6 months, engages students with various units of the NCGG, allowing them to contribute to critical issues and challenges in citizen-centric governance.

The primary objective of the internship is to expose students to real-world governance and public policy concerns, while simultaneously helping the NCGG benefit from the fresh perspectives and academic knowledge that young minds bring to the table. Although the internship is a short-term opportunity, it is designed to provide deep insights into governance, while also encouraging practical learning that bridges theoretical education with field experience.

Selection Process
The selection process for the NCGG Internship Programme is thorough and consists of two key stages:
- Preliminary Screening: The initial stage involves reviewing all applications to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.
- Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (online or offline), where they can showcase their skills and motivation to be part of the programme.
Applicants are required to submit complete and accurate information, including original marksheets, personal identification, and recommendation letters. Any false information will lead to disqualification from the programme.
The NCGG has a limited intake, with a maximum of 20 interns selected at a time. Therefore, competition can be intense, and applicants should ensure they meet all the necessary criteria to stand a good chance of selection.
Honorarium and Support
Interns will receive a consolidated stipend of INR 10,000 per month on a pro-rata basis, which is contingent on the progress of their assigned tasks. However, interns are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and boarding arrangements, and they should have their own laptops. NCGG provides necessary infrastructure like a working space, internet facilities, and any other tools needed to perform the tasks assigned.
Responsibilities and Attendance
During the internship, interns are expected to integrate into the daily functions of the NCGG, contributing to ongoing projects and tasks. Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Conducting secondary research on governance issues.
- Writing reports and analyzing data.
- Engaging in communication and event management activities.
- Assisting in policy development and public service delivery improvement initiatives.
Interns must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance throughout the internship period. If this requirement is not met, they will not be eligible for the experience certificate. Interns must also maintain good conduct throughout the program and keep all confidential information secure.
At the end of the internship, each intern is required to submit a final report and make a presentation to the evaluation committee. Upon successful completion of the internship, an Experience Certificate is awarded, recognizing their contribution and learning.
Termination and Duration
The internship can be terminated at any point by NCGG if the intern does not meet the necessary requirements or is found to be lacking in performance. Similarly, interns who wish to leave the program must give one week’s notice to their supervisor.
